“Padrecita” Jeanne Lutz began serving as our interim priest-in-
charge on June 1, 2017, and will be with us for the next 6 to 12
months. “Padrecita” came to us from a similar position at St.
Alban’s Episcopal Church, El Paso, where she served for 15
months in 2015-2016, and from St. Christopher’s, El Paso,
where she was priest-in-charge for 3 years. Prior to that
“Padrecita” spent 8 years as associate pastor of Peace Lutheran
Church, Las Cruces, and 12 years as associate rector of St.
Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Las Cruces.
“Padrecita” and her husband Bill both graduated from the
University of Texas at Austin They moved to Las Cruces in 1969
where Bill joined the law firm now known as Martin& Lutz. In
1982 they moved to Albuquerque, during which time Padrecita
Jeanne was ordained to the diaconate and the priesthood,
serving two congregations in Albuquerque before she and her family moved back to Las Cruces in 1991.
During her 29 years as a priest, Padrecita Jeanne has also served as a hospice chaplain, campus minister, and
dean of the Southwest Deanery for the Diocese of the Rio Grande (2012-2015). In 2008 she received her
Doctor of Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Bill and Padrecita Jeanne have two sons, William Jr. and David Price Lutz.
